I stand with ski patrol. ❄️
Being a ski patrol has been one of the most challenging and rewarding things I’ve ever done.
Yes, as a ski patrol we get to do some pretty amazing things. We get first tracks on powder days, we get fresh groomer lines every morning, and we get to ski from mountain open to mountain close.
But there’s aspects of our job that people don’t consider. When 9990 opens late on a powder day, it’s because we are out there considering every possible avalanche slide path, putting our lives at risk to mitigate the avalanche risk for others. When you hear the sound of the helicopter overhead it’s because the men and women of the ski patrol are doing everything we can to bring your loved ones back to you. On the coldest days, on the rainiest days, on the windiest days, we are out there, all day, every day.
My time as a ski patrol has been and continues to be so amazing. It has given me more smiles than I ever thought a job could. But it also has been frustrating, heartbreaking, and life changing. Our ski patrol are some of the hardest working, most dedicated, bad ass people around, and they deserve our support.
I support, I stand with and am proud to be a member of the ski patrol.
