My attempt at Angel’s landing. Let’s just say my fear of heights was not conquered that day. 🏜😳🌵
You guys this is literally how far I made it up Angel’s Landing. I want be ashamed by this but honestly I can only see the humor in it. I can’t believe I only made it 8 ft. I pride myself on my bravery, on my ability to overcome any situation. And here I am, crippled in fear by a big stupid rock.
For my whole life, I have been told the old cliche. “When you are faced with fear, you have two choices, your commitment verses your fear.” But I want to raise a third option. Breathe. You can push your fear down, give in to it, or you can choose to breathe through it. By using our breath we are able to calm our central nervous system allowing us to process our surroundings, and respond to our fear instead of reacting to it.
Inhale. Exhale. A simple mindless action, that we do 17,000-30,000 times per day. Inhale. Exhale. A simple action that when done mindfully has incredible power. The power to increase your immune system. The power to decrease stress, relieve pain, lower blood pressure. Inhale. Exhale. This simple action floods our body with oxygen and allows us to think with a clear mind.
Our breath is so powerful. Perhaps if I would’ve used my breath I would have actually been able to reach my goal. Before you act out of fear, consider using your built in super power.
